1) “I Don’t Deserve It” — Yes, You Do.

One of the most heartbreaking things I hear from Veterans is:

“I didn’t apply because other people had it worse.”

“I wasn’t wounded badly.”

“I don’t think I deserve it.”

Let me say this as clearly as possible: If you served, and you have a condition connected to your service, you have earned the right to apply for VA disability benefits.

These benefits exist because of your service, not because your injury had to be the worst. You don’t have to compare your pain to someone else’s. The system is designed to acknowledge all levels of service-connected conditions—physical or mental.

2) The Caluza Triangle — Know This, Use This.

Many claims are denied because Veterans don’t know the basic legal framework the VA uses to decide disability claims. It’s called the Caluza Triangle, and understanding it can make all the difference:

To qualify, you need these three things:

a) A Current Diagnosis - You must have a documented, current medical condition.

b) An In-Service Event - Something must have happened during your military service—an injury, illness, or event.

c) A Nexus -This is the connection between your diagnosis and the in-service event. This link can be made by medical records or a medical professional’s opinion.

🚨Most denials happen because the VA doesn’t see a clear nexus. This is where many claims fall apart—but also where they can be fixed. A solid nexus opinion can change everything.

Final Thought: Don’t Go It Alone.
